Croatian Science Foundation Projects

The programs of the Croatian Science Foundation “Research Projects” (RP) and “Installation Research Projects” (IRP) fund following:

  • basic research that creates new and enhances existing knowledge about a particular field and that aims to better understand the subject matter of the research, and
  • applied research that is conducted with clear technological, economic or social objectives.

 

The general objectives of these programs are:

  • creating new knowledge with the ultimate goal of strengthening the Croatian economy and the well-being of society
  • encouraging networking of researchers and creation of distinguished research groups dealing with internationally and / or nationally significant issues, whose leaders are prominent scientists with internationally recognized achievements
  • the creation of research groups that can compete internationally and scientists who can mentor a new generation of young researchers, and the development of Croatia's research potential

 

In the area of social sciences, the Institute of Public Finance has been granted funding for in 2014 the three proposed projects:

  • Application of Microsimulation Models in the Analysis of Taxes and Social Benefits in Croatia (AMMATSBC), Project manager: Ivica Urban (September 2015 – December 2018)
  • Channels and Effectiveness of Fiscal Devaluations (FIDE), Project manager: Goran Vukšić (September 2015 – August 2018)
  • Understanding, Monitoring and Analysing Local Government Budget Transparency: Case Study of Croatia And Slovenia – Open Local Budget Index (OLBI), Project manager: Katarina Ott (September 2015 – August 2019)

 

in 2019 the two proposed projects:

  • Impact of Taxes And Benefits On Income Distribution and Economic Efficiency (ITBIDEE), Project manager: Ivica Urban (January 2020 – January 2024)
  • Does Transparency Pay-Off? The Political and Socio-Economic Impacts of Local Government Budget Transparency in Croatia (IMPACTBT), Project manager: Mihaela Bronić (January 2020 – January 2024)

 

Within the program „Young Researchers' Career Development Project – Training of Doctoral Students“, Institute of Public Finance has also been granted funding for three doctoral students

  • Branko Stanić (December 2016 – December 2020), topic: determinants of local government budget transparency
  • Martina Pezer (December 2016 – December 2020), topic: family social benefits
  • Simona Prijaković (November 2018. – October 2022.), topic: impacts of local government budget transparency
