As of July 2019, the position of the Institute’s Director has been held by Dr Vjekoslav Bratić. He has been an employee of the Institute since 2000, first as a research assistant, followed by postdoctoral researcher, scientific associate, higher scientific associate and finally scientific advisor position. He also holds a titular full professor rank at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb. He authored and co-authored many scientific articles in the fields of public sector economics, local finances, budget and budgetary process, tax expenditures and financing religious communities. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb, followed by a Master’s degree at the same institution. He obtained his PhD from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Political Science in 2007 as well as from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Split in 2010.

In his capacity as Director, he is responsible for the Institute’s operations, their legality and organizing the Institute’s work as well as other matters as defined by the Institute’s Statute

The Director is appointed and removed from office by the Administrative Board pursuant to a public call to a four-year term of office.
