Our colleague Mihaela Bronić, a Member of the Council of the Open Government Partnership Initiative for Croatia, participated from 7-9 September 2023 at the 8th Open Government Partnership Global Summit in Tallinn.
The Summit brought together heads of state and governments, representatives of civil society, and policymakers worldwide, focusing on open government in the digital age, the potential of technology to make governance and policy-making more transparent and accountable, and the preservation of democracy. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences and views and generate new enthusiasm to face the regional and global challenges in the coming years.
Open Government Partnership is a multilateral initiative that aims to ensure improvement in transparency and openness of public administration bodies, engagement and empowerment of citizens and civil society, fight against corruption and use of new technologies for the improvement of service quality provided to the citizens by the public administration.
The author of this Initiative is the former President of the United States, Barrack Obama, who announced its basic principles in his speech at the UN General Assembly in September 2010, which mainly relies on the Open Government Directive, one of the frames of its program.
