To mark five decades of the Public Sector Economics journal, the Institute of Public Finance is hosting its annual conference dedicated to the development of public finance from the mid-1970s to the present day, with particular attention to where it is heading next. The conference will be held on 23 October 2026 in Zagreb.
The programme will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to discuss key achievements in public sector theory and practice, emerging research trends and challenges that are likely to shape the years ahead.
The conference will feature a keynote lecture by George Kopits, a distinguished expert in macroeconomic policy and public finance, academic paper presentations covering emerging research trends, and a panel discussion dedicated to strengthening good governance in Croatia’s public sector.
More information is available on the conference’s website. There is no registration fee, but all participants are required to register in advance by 20 October 2026 at this registration link.
The conference is supported by: Association of Cities in Croatia, Croatian Counties Association and Janaf.
