  • Project description:

The Croatian Chamber of Economy (CCE) and The Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts (CCTC), via their county chambers, conducted a survey about the training needs of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and crafts in Croatia. The survey was conducted in the period from 9 to 30 May 2011. Selected enterprises were asked to respond to a questionnaire containing 26 questions. The questionnaire was completed by 510 (or 17.7%) from a total of 2,882 SMEs from the CCE database, while 455 (15.8%) completed the questionnaire in full. 250 from a total of 3,856 (or 6.5%) craftsmen from the CCTC database responded to the questionnaire, while 223 (5.8%) finished it in full. The basic goal of the survey and the subsequent analysis was to identify training and education needs in small- and medium-sized enterprises. Also, the survey aimed to find out how these activities are financed and how the selected firms have used state subsidies for education and development of their labour force in the past 12 months. Furthermore, the opinions and proposals for possible improvements in education and training for SME and craft labour force were collected and analysed.
