In order to achieve sustainable and smart economic and social growth in the Southeast European (SEE) Region, as well as in Europe in general, it is imperative to support the small and medium sector (SMEs) growth. Innovative new strategies are needed to make the SEE SME sector competitive, not only in the European context but also in the global setting. The South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) has been established specifically for this task. It has already gained experience in policy brokerage.
SEECEL is in a position to analyse and relate the information on SME-related policy and regulatory decisions made in the Region and in the EU. For SEECEL’s future development, it was necessary to prepare a Feasibility Study. SEECEL’s vision is to become an internationally recognised, trustworthy and efficient institution in the field of lifelong entrepreneurial learning with particular reference to best policy and practice, knowledge and know-how. Stronger development of small and medium sector, along with the positive economic impacts primarily linked to enhanced economic growth, enables similar social positive impacts - particularly related to reducing overall unemployment. This brings along positive social behaviour and self-esteem and self-reliance, all of which are very important characteristics for developing societies.
It was expected that SEECEL’s activity will have significant effects on the employment of young people and a change of the society’s attitude toward entrepreneurship, resulting with positive social and economic development.
