The primary goal of the project was to research success indicators of the state-incited housing savings system in Croatia and the existing advantages and disadvantages of the system. For that purpose, the project included a description of the development and current state of the housing savings system in Croatia and its comparison with the existing systems in other countries of the region. The practice of providing state incentives in other countries and the amounts thereof were also analysed. Furthermore, the Croatian system of housing savings was analysed from the viewpoint of all stakeholders, i.e. the state, building societies and savers.
Taking all that into account, the project offered a final assessment of the successfulness of the present system, cost effectiveness of state-provided housing savings incitements and the wider economic influence of the existence and incitement of housing savings in Croatia.
