Leonarda Srdelić has been selected to participate in the Climate in Macroeconomic Frameworks course organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. This course responds to the growing importance of climate change as a driver of economic activity and recognizes the transformative role of climate policies in shaping economies. Its objective is to provide participants with macroeconomic frameworks, tools, and models to incorporate climate risks into policymaking and economic planning.

The course is delivered in two parts. The first part, conducted online, focused on financial programming and policies and dynamic debt tools. Srdelić has successfully completed this phase, qualifying to attend the in-person segment at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., scheduled for February 3–7, 2025. This on-site session will focus on advanced techniques for integrating climate data into macroeconomic frameworks, assessing economic risks arising from climate change, and analyzing vulnerabilities at the country level.

Upon completion of the course, Srdelić will be equipped to analyze climate data and integrate climate shocks into macroeconomic models. She will be able to identify and quantify the economic impacts of climate events, such as natural disasters, and reflect these in economic forecasts and policymaking. Furthermore, she will enhance her ability to evaluate the implications of climate change for public debt dynamics and to assess the cost-effectiveness of investments in climate adaptation. This will include understanding how proactive investments in resilient infrastructure and risk management systems can mitigate fiscal pressures in the face of heightened climate risks.
