On March 24, 2026 the Institute of Public Finance hosted members of the Finance Club, a student association from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb. During the visit, our researchers presented their areas of work, research interests, and ongoing projects.

In the introductory part, Anja Špoljarić presented the Institute and its key areas of activity, with a particular focus on her own research interest – internal communication and employer branding. She highlighted the connections between these topics and public finance, specifically regarding the efficiency of public services, including the education sector.

Leonarda Srdelić presented research on firm-to-firm linkages in Croatia, based on VAT transaction data and conducted in cooperation with the OECD. She emphasized how such data can be used to analyse the economic resilience to shocks, as well as to understand the diffusion of digital and green innovations.

Romario Marijanović presented his research, which focuses on local public finance and budgets, including his recently defended PhD topic on the budget credibility of Croatian municipalities and cities. He particularly highlighted the importance of financial auditing in analysing the determinants of budget credibility.

In the second part of the visit, students presented their areas of interest and asked questions covering various topics related to public finance and the work of the Institute. This exchange of ideas and experience confirms the importance of such joint meetings in connecting students interested in public sector economics with the research community.

This visit was organized within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026 – NextGenerationEU – under the implementation activity Popularization of science and the arts.
