Institute researcher Mihaela Bronić participated in a meeting with representatives of the Association of Irish Local Government (AILG) on 14 May 2025, held at the Embassy of Ireland in Zagreb as part of their visit to H.E. Wendy Dorman-Smith, Ambassador.

The meeting focused on exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of local governance and the professional development of local councillors. As the national representative body for all 949 city and county councillors in Ireland, the AILG plays a key role in shaping local policy, providing training and education for elected officials, and promoting public awareness of the functions of local government.

Discussion highlighted the importance of empowering local communities through strong representative structures and continuous development of councillors’ competencies. The participants also emphasised the value of international cooperation and the exchange of good practices, particularly in fostering transparent, inclusive, and effective local governance.
