On 14 October 2024, researchers from the Institute of Public Finance met with representatives from the European Commission and discussed Croatia’s medium-term fiscal-structural plan.
The topics of the meeting were related to the expectations of the success of the real estate tax, as well as the challenges of fiscal adjustments of the budget, which will be essential for budget planning in the next period. The conversation also explored the recent income tax reform and the reduction of marginal tax rates in that system, assessing possible impacts on the state’s income.
When discussing the reform of wages in the public sector and expectations of their movements in the medium term, it was pointed out that no significant changes are expected. In conclusion, they referred to the jurisdiction of local government units regarding employment and wage levels.
