As a member of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) and representative of the Institute of Public Finance, Katarina Ott participated in the CEPA session "Governance and Institutional Perspectives on Advancing Sustainable, Inclusive, Science and Evidence-Based Solutions for the SDGs", held in New York from 7 to 11 April 2025.
Together with her co-authors, she presented two papers. The first focused on sustainable public finance, examining the role of sound, inclusive, science- and evidence-based public financial management in accelerating progress toward the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The paper concludes by highlighting two innovative approaches to public financial management and proposes a comprehensive framework of recommendations to guide governments in delivering sustainable development through 2030 and beyond.
The second paper addressed institution-building in post-conflict countries. It provides illustrative examples of how to recognize and address mental health challenges in the aftermath of conflict or emergencies. The authors offer a set of recommendations for developing effective mental health systems, services, and institutions to ensure that no one is left behind.
CEPA is a United Nations technical advisory body that studies and makes recommendations to improve governance and public administration structures and processes for development. It supports the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) by reviewing trends, issues, and priorities in public administration, particularly in relation to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the implementation and progress review of the SDGs.
