Researcher at the Institute of Public Finance and member of the Council of the Partnership for Open Government initiative, Mihaela Bronić, presented the outcomes of the implementation of the Action Plan of Open Government Initiative in Croatia in the area of fiscal transparency on 19 December 2023 at the conference "Open Government in Croatia – a view in the future" of the Office for Cooperation with NGOs.

Local budget transparency has increased significantly, according to Bronić, because of the combined efforts of the Institute of Public Finance and the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Croatian Union of Counties, the Association of Cities, and the Croatian Union of Municipalities. She emphasized that now it is imperative to encourage greater involvement from the citizens, the media, labour unions, legislators, and scientists. "Budget transparency is not a goal in itself – public participation is essential. Public should pay attention to the budget's credibility and participate in the budget process" concluded Bronić.

The conference brought together representatives of public authorities, civil society organizations, and experts who were briefed about the implementation of the fourth Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership Initiative in Croatia. More information about presentations at the conference is available on the Office for Cooperation with NGOs website.
