The Institute of Public Finance organizes a virtual presentation on September 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 (CET) on a new approach to Laffer-curve estimation that combines economic theory, flexible functional forms, and LASSO regularisation.
Hermes Morgavi (OECD, Paris, France) will present a machine-learning-based model to estimate Laffer curves for personal income tax, corporate income tax, and value-added tax over the period 2000–2021. Applied to OECD countries, the model suggests that revenue-maximising tax rates vary widely across countries, reflecting differences in economic structures and institutions.
The presentation is open to the general public, but participants are required to register in advance at this registration link.
