Conferences :: Welfare State Performance and Design
Institute of Public Finance and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung have organized an international conference Welfare State Performance and Design which was held in Zagreb, April 17 and 18, 2008. Topics discussed have covered the areas such as equity and income redistribution, social spending efficiency, pension system reform, intergenerational equity, and income replacement policies. Fourteen papers were presented at the conference, by authors arriving from various European universities and international institutions. Our special guest and invited lecturer, Professor Peter J. Lambert from University of Oregon, has presented his research on redistributive effects of U.S. tax system in 1994-2004. On 16 April, at the colloquium organized by Math Department of the Faculty of Science (University of Zagreb), professor Lambert held a lecture on design principles for an EU-wide income tax.
